The show Abrushcadabrush® begins when Dr. Schneider states, "Real magic happens when you least expect it, and in the most surprising ways." Then he adds, "And there is magic in words." He proceeds to expand the children's oral health vocabulary.
Children's perspectives and behaviors are transformed in positive ways, because they thoroughly enjoy their learning experience. They say, "Abrushcadabrush," and amazing magic occurs: teeth and pulp come alive; and sugar bugs grow, multiply, and then vanish. They learn the magic of fluoride, help restore a tooth with a magic toothbrush, learn what happened to him - as a boy when he visited a magic dentist, and watch what sugar does to a sweet tooth. The most common comment from the children is, "Thank you for teaching me to brush my teeth." Abrushcadabrush® teaches the importance of good oral health.
The show creates a zone of proximal development for children by utilizing magic to teach the oral health literacy lesson plan below, and promotes both good oral and overall health.
